Symposium

From Research to Action: Tools for Change

SAVE THE DATE! The next California Breast Cancer Research Symposium will be held at the Oakland Marriott on September 24-25, 2010. Registration is open now.

CME credits are available. Deadline for CME registration is September 15. More details are on our CME page.

Don't miss Friday's plenary session, "Tools for Expanding the Research Paradigm" with experts Laura Esserman (ATHENA Breast Health Network), Susan Love (Dr. Susan Love Research Foundation, Avon/Love Army of Women), Elly Cohen (BreastCancerTrials.org), and Anna H. Wu (Data Pooling Project to Study Race & Ethnicity in Stage-specific Breast Cancer Survival)

Saturday's plenary session is another can't-miss event. "Making Chemical Testing Relevant to Breast Cancer: The California Breast Cancer and Chemicals Policy Project" features speakers from the CBCRP's team of multidisciplinary experts assessing both existing toxicological tests and gaps in the availability of testing measures that could be used to prioritize which chemicals are of most concern for their links to breast cancer.

Learn about state-of-the-art research, meet other people engaged against the disease, and gain insight into emerging therapies, prevention, and diagnosis.

This event is open to everyone, and attendance is free. Whether you are a scientist, advocate, clinician, policymaker, or simply curious about breast cancer research, this event has something for you.

Presented in an easy to absorb educational format, the symposium will cover such topics as:

  • the basic biology of breast cancer
  • new diagnostic tools and personalized therapies
  • exploring ways to improve delivery of services
  • new tools for researching disparities and their impact on breast cancer risk
  • the influence of breast cancer research on statewide and national chemicals policy
  • the role of advocacy and community research in moving the breast cancer field forward
  • ways for you to make your mark in the fight against breast cancer

Registration is open now. To register, click "Registration" in the left-side menu.

Join us in discussions about the most important topics that are currently making the greatest advances in breast cancer research, share your experiences with the disease, exchange scientific information and educational resources, and give us feedback about the research we're doing.

More details about the symposium will be coming soon. If you'd like us to let you know when we post more information, drop a quick note at symposium@cabreastcancer.org, and we'll add you to our list. We'll also post updates on our Facebook Fan Page, and we'd enjoy your company there!
