Research Progress and Results
In 1999, a number of research projects funded in 1995 through 1998 were completed. The results of these projects are summarized in this section. Other projects funded in 1995 through 1998 are still underway. The emerging findings based on the annual progress reports submitted to CBCRP are also reviewed in this section. Finally, a new portfolio of grants was awarded in these same areas in 1999. These new projects are also summarized in this section.
CBCRP staff monitor the progress of each grant through contact with the investigators throughout the year; investigators also describe their research progress in an annual report to CBCRP. Summaries of these reports are rapidly posted to CBCRP's web site to allow others to learn of results quickly, rather than to wait the 1—2 years it often takes to reach publication in scientific journals. Once results are published in journals, these citations are placed on the web site, along with links to the abstracts of these articles.
