Welcome to Our New Council Members

The CBCRP wishes to welcome three new members to the California Breast Cancer Research Program Advisory Council (BCRC). Moon S. Chen, Jr., Ph.D., M.P.H., of the University of California, Davis, and Amy D. Kyle, Ph.D., M.P.H., of the University of California, Berkeley, will fill scientist/clinician slots and Lisa Wanzor of Breast Cancer Action will fill an advocate slot. We expect that their expertise and insights in the areas of environmental and population sciences will prove invaluable as we move forward with our new Program Initiatives investigating the infl uence of lifestyle and the environment on breast cancer and uncovering the reasons for the unequal burden of the disease.

The panelists including Mhel Kavanaugh-Lynch (CBCRP Director), Dolph Gotelli (Design Museum Director), Kate Collie (guest Curator), and contributing artists will discuss the development and vision of the exhibit from 1-2 pm at 176 Emerson Hall. The reception will take place 2-4 pm at 145 Walker Hall. Admission to the discussion and reception is $10. Admission to the museum is always free. Central Valley Golf Tournament Benefits Breast Cancer Research

On June 22-23, 2004, the CBCRP was the honored beneficiary of the Sierra Classic Ladies ProAm Golf Tournament, hosted by the Sierra Meadows Country Club in Ahwahnee, California. The luxury 18-hole, Par 72 course, nestled in the oak and pine covered hills near Bass Lake and Yosemite National Park, hosted eleven teams of professional and amateur golfers in a two-day tournament to benefi t breast cancer research. We thank Christina Jacobson, club pro and breast cancer survivor; her assistant, Liz Meyers; and the sponsors and players for their generosity.
