“Update on CBCRP Fundraising Activities”
As part of the CBCRP fundraising and marketing campaign, many new activities were recently launched in order to generate new opportunities for support and participation. Activities are targeted towards segments of the general public that would have a natural interest in women's issues and breast cancer, as well as companies that would be likely partners for events and promotions.
The CBCRP's network for support now reaches many Californians through new community relationships, our Executive Team, and our Community Partners Program. Here are some highlights.
United Way of The Bay Area
For the first time in the CBCRP's history, it is now listed with the United Way of the Bay Area as a certified agency that is approved to participate in the annual Community Campaign. That means that this fall, when the Community Campaign kicks off, anyone who participates in their com-pany's or organization's workplace cam-paign can donate to the CBCRP through the interactive online giving tool on United Way's Web site, or by designating the CBCRP for a contribution on the forms distributed to all employees. In addition, representatives from the CBCRP will have the opportunity to make presentations at company gatherings and encourage employees to earmark their donations for our organization.
To give you an idea of the impact of the United Way of the Bay Area, it is the largest private funder of health and human services in Northern California, serving seven counties. The agency's mission is to partner with contributors to build healthy and safe communities. It brings together individuals, community leaders, nonprofit agencies, government, businesses, and schools to create an exchange of ideas and strategies, and to promote four core issues: education, health, safe communities, and selfsufficiency.
You can join the CBCRP in spreading the word about the United Way's Community Campaign. Let your friends in the Bay Area know about the CBCRP and encourage them to contact us regarding a presentation at their place of work at campaign time or for updates that can be used in company newsletters. All contributions to the CBCRP are greatly appreciated. To lend support, please contact our fundraising staff via email at madelyn@talmus.com.
Executive Team
On another front, the CBCRP Executive Team met in Los Angeles this spring to review activities and discuss future planning. The session also offered participants an inside look at CBCRP funding in action, thanks to a presentation by Sanford H. Barsky, M.D., one of our grant recipients. Dr. Barsky, an investigator from the Department of Pathology, UCLA School of Medicine, reviewed his work concerning the lymphovascular tumor embolus and shared findings with the Team.
Cause To Run
A new opportunity surfaced to generate new awareness and support for our Community Partners Program when the CBCRP was designated a beneficiary of the San Francisco Chronicle's 5K run, Cause To Run, which took place in July. In addition to advertising, people learned about the event through a new email marketing effort and direct mail.
Outreach efforts depend on the participation of a variety of people. We encourage you to join us and help spread the word about the CBCRP by referring us to high profile activities and events in your area. Please contact madelyn@talmus.com with your ideas and suggestions.
